ECO FRIENDLY CRAYONS
ABOUT ME
Hello my name is Charitha Ankam, I am in MYP 5 (Grade10) studying in Sreenidhi International School. I created eco-friendly crayons mostly aimed for children aged three to eight. I chose this for my project because making eco-friendly crayons from natural materials can be helpful for young children, preventing them from getting any health issues if they consume crayons made from artificial ingredients such as pigments and wax. There have been many cases where young children consume crayons without knowing while they are having fun colouring but it can be dangerous to their bodies as the wax and artificial pigments can lead to intestinal obstruction and allergic reactions. This website is aimed to provide information on the materials used to make eco-friendly crayons.

Why Eco-Friendly?:
I chose this topic because I have a brother aged 5 and noticed throughout the years how much he loves colouring but also putting random items in his mouth, especially crayons. Little kids like him can get health issues with chemicals and artificial wax and pigments used in crayons as they are young and their body is still developing.

Our environment is facing many problems such as pollution and global warming, these problems are mainly caused by factories and industrial activities . If this continues to happen, the planet’s temperature will increase trapping the sun’s heat and raising temperatures which will cause many problems for animals and humans so we will face new challenges.
Eco friendly crayons are made from natural materials which are safe for wild animals, humans and the environment; they are not toxic and it can stop the use of factories and industrial activities. Young children are full of excitement when it comes to colouring and painting. They love to use colours for their drawings, school work and many other things. Creating Eco friendly crayons will be safe for kids and also for the environment.
My Inspiration:
My brother was my inspiration to create these eco-friendly products as I noticed his interest in arts starting from the age of one; there are definitely other children like my brother so providing these crayons would be safer for them to use and parents would not have to worry.
